ALEX NEIL - HIGHLAND DANCING CONVENOR
It is with great sadness, that we announce the recent passing of Alex Neil, the West Lothian Games Highland Dancing convenor. Alex was the dancing convenor for many years, and during that time met many children, mothers and grandmothers! Alex will be remembered for his dedication, humour and not least, kindness. Our thoughts are with the Neil family.

Saturday 28 May 2010 - The Highland Games
The Games has been going strong since the early 1970's and is one of Scotland's most important Highland Games. The Games continues to attract considerable support from the local community and county, and with visitors increasingly visiting from furtherafield, we are seeing yearly increases in attendance. The Games are proudly held in Bathgate's Meadow Park. The Games will commence at 10am with the Highland Dancing - Non-premier, beginners, novice & primary category. The Pipe Bands will effectively close the events by marching through the streets, finishing around Marjoribanks Street. The panel to the right of this text highlights the provisional 2011 games main attractions.
Local Attractions
Whether you're a 'local' or a visitor from further afield, why don't you take the opportunity to visit some other charms of Bathgate, and indeed the wider West Lothian area. West Lothian is rich in history, from the Cairnpapple Hill, which was used from about 3,000 BC to 1400 BC firstly as a ceremonial site then several centuries later as a burial site, to the beautiful Linlithgow Palace. If railway heritage is your thing, visit the Bo'ness & Kinneil Railway. For a more comprehensive list of local attractions, please visit the Historic Scotland and/or West Lothian Council websites.
